Homemade Cashew Yogurt – No Yogurt Maker Machine Needed

I bet everyone has tried a lots different homemade things in 2020 already, I can’t remember how many things I tried the past 7 months. Out of all the ones I managed to make, there is one surprisingly satisfying food I made is this Homemade Cashew Yogurt without a yogurt maker.

Before I tried on this recipe, I had a store bought yogurt machine yet I never managed to make a perfect Vegan Yogurt at all. Was so disappointed and thought I could never make a perfect vegan yogurt at home because of the lack of proper agent and temperature or equipments.

So why do I bother to make Vegan Yogurt at home, the reason is obvious: LESS ADDITIVES. This specific recipe is the perfect for me, since there is absolutely 0 sugar or sweetener or natural flavor added. And almost effortless.

Nutrition Fact:

Equipments:

  1. A blender. (I have a Vitamix which saves lots effort for me, but any blender will do)
  2. A large glass jar
  3. A cheese cloth or Coffee filter
  4. A rubber band

Ingredients:

  1. 600g Organic Raw Cashew Nuts
  2. 2-3 cups of filtered water
  3. 1/4 slide of Lemon (add/reduce per your taste preference, I like my yogurt taste tart)
  4. 1 pinch of pink salt
  5. 3 capsules of Probiotics (This has to be a pure Probiotic, not blended with Prebiotic. I use RenewLife Ultimate Flora Probiotic 100 BLC)

Directions:

  1. Soak Cashew for 3-5 hours. Don’t soak for more than 5 hours, cashew does not overnight soaking
  2. Add Cashew, peeled lemon slide, pink salt and 1cup of water into blender
  3. Blende in high speed, add additional water while blending to reach a creamy texture
  4. Pour the creamy cashew cream into glass jar
  5. Remove the capsule coat and pour the probiotic into the glass jar filled with cashew cream from step 4
  6. Stir with a non-metal stick/utensil
  7. Cover the glass jar with cheese cloth and tight with robber band
  8. Put the glass jar at a room temperature place avoid direct sunlight (but don’t put in cabinet) let it sit over night. The yogurt will be ready the next morning, if not, let it sit for couple more hours
  9. Put the yogurt in small jar/or just simple seal the jar with its own lid and put into refrigerator. (Would good for 7 days without any problem in refrigerator)

Enjoy it with any topping you want, and if it is too tart, add a some of honey/maple syrup would be perfect.
